On April 22 of each year, the world comes together to commemorate International Earth Day , a date that seeks to make citizens aware of the impact that people's activities have on the environment. Floods and extreme temperatures are some of the phenomena that are most frequently affecting the planet.

The climate crisis is a reality. It is time to act, that is why the global call is to stop the indiscriminate felling of forests, reduce the levels of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, in addition, implement actions to protect and conserve the different ecosystems and biodiversity.

The Administration of Mayor Claudia López invites citizens to continue changing their habits to contribute to the protection and conservation of wetlands, streams, mountain parks and other elements of the city's Main Ecological Structure, spaces that serve as habitat for different species of flora and fauna.

Changes in biodiversity considerably affect ecosystems and generate alterations in the goods and services that they provide to humanity.

Why is Earth Day celebrated?

Earth Day is a commemoration related to the importance of the planet and all the life forms that inhabit it, tending to generate awareness about pollution, biodiversity and the environmental responsibility of man. The commemoration has its origin since 1970 and the UN General Assembly adopted it in 2009.
